Practice

These are from when I was teaching myself to draw. Unfortunately, now, I don't get as much time to practice as I'd like.

They are either drawn from life, copied from a photograph or from a master artist such as John SInger Sargent.

I find the old black and white jazz and movie photographs particularly well suited for charcoal practice and chiaroscuro - the lighting was an art in its own right and they were masters of it.
